Why do people act like the pacific coast is better than the midwest?

I live in Reno and drive into california sometimes. This whole place seems so much more conservative with not much diversity as at home it was. They have no black people and all the elective officials are conservative. If I wanted to get married to my same I'd have to go all the way to Iowa unlike at home it was a lot closer. I mean I feel I need to cling to my purse more often because there are so many homeless kids and adults always asking for change. This city is so small with only the gambling sights making the town look even more cheesy. I got less resources than at home. Back where I'm from it had much things to do warm summers nice malls that I could spendall my money in and I had more resources for it to be a good home town as well. They had cliness and chicago was right nearby always alive. There was always something to do something to see. Here I feel like I'm in the middle of nowhere. So why do people act like the Pacific coast is better than the midwest? btw my mom made a rash decision to move here we've regretted it since.
