What can you do about it?

Of course, you're forgetting about the other not-very-journalistic trick of putting a 20-second blurb in early Prime-time promising the revelation of some undercover story which contains information "you need to know!" and then you have to wait until ten (or eleven on the East Coast) to find out what it is. They aren't thinking about the fact that you may not be able to tune in at bedtime, so if you have school-age kids, I guess you're just outta luck! Or your kids are outta luck when you tell then "No Bedtime story tonight. Those photojournalists are reporting on something vital to Daddy's life and he will only tell me about it at your bedtime."
