I keep getting "new message" alerts for my Yahoo Personals in box. When I look there's nothing there. Why?

The little envelope with the heart appears in the lower bar on my screen. When I click on it, I seem to be going to my personals in box, but there is nothing there! It happens almost every day! Can anyone shed any light on this issue? Thanks so much!
