How do u get a guy to notice u !!! I NEED ADVICE!!?

I have liked this guy since i w 3 years old and he only says sup to me we have never had a conversation!! His friends says he likes me and all but i never can trust his friends!! We have sat by each other during lunch and all and my friend whispered in my ear oooh i think he likes u and that stuff and i have never got a chance to say i like him or anything. I have told his friends and family i like him, is that the right thing to do?
