Ps2 or ps3 in 2010?????????

I was thinking about getting a ps2 or ps3 soon, but wasn't sure which option was better, as i haven't upgraded systems since the gamecube. The ps2 is cheaper, but im not sure which option is better, as ps2 could become obsolete... So is the ps2 or ps3 a better choice to buy today in 2010??
