Medical help for short story...?

How about cervical cancer? She could have had it and remained without symptoms and it could have advanced quickly due to no treatment. It would be probable for her to refuse treatment once she finds out that it will be horrible to go through chemo and radiation, lose her hair, become bloated, be sick to her stomach all the time, only to find out that she's not going to be cured, but the treatment will simply extend her life by a few months.
